WEST MACDONNELL RANGES COUNTRY
in association with Iltja Ntjarra Many Hands Art Centre, NT
The iconic Hermannsburg watercolour landscapes of Central Australia have been part of the Australian consciousness for over half a century thanks to the enduring legacy of Albert Namatjira, Otto Pareroulta and their pioneer peers of the Hermannsburg School. While Hubert continues the extraordinary tradition of the Hermannsburg watercolourists, he imbues the paintings with a futuristic twist; his own idiosyncratic orbital landscapes and split images, showing two places at once, in addition to the more classic very finely painted dramatic paintings of Standley Chasm and the Organ Pipes.
