We have been busy with the opening of TARNANTHI - Festival of Contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art which opened in Adelaide last Thursday. The Festival is on at museums and galleries across Adelaide. JAMES TYLOR's daguerreotypes are on display at the Art Gallery of South Australia alongside other gallery represented artists including SPINIFEX ARTS PROJECT and NYARAPAYI GILES. The works of MAREE CLARKE, JANET FIELDHOUSE and VICKI WEST are featured in Shimmer at the Jam Factory and South Australian Museum. VICKI WEST's solo exhibition mina lakapawa is also currenty on display at the Adelaide Central School of Art.

FORTHCOMING EXHIBITIONS - OPENING 28 OCTOBER

Back in Melbourne, Vivien Anderson Gallery is getting ready to open two new exciting exhibitions @ BRIGHTSPACE in St Kilda. The first is PALYA (means Good) - new paintings from the arists from Martumili, Tjarlirli and Warakurna in the Ngaanyatjarra Lands of Western Australia. The exhibition features works from acclaimed artists NYARAPAYI GILES, NORA WOMPI, BOB GIBSON, JAKAYU BILJABU, CAROL GOLDING and the late MYRA COOK.

The second exhibition is GURTHA - bark paintings by RERRKIRRWANGA MUNUNGGURR in association with Buku Larrnggay Mulka Centre in Yirrkala, eastern Arnhem Land. These exquisite barks represent Gurtha - fire - the miny’tji or sacred clan designs of the Gumatj clan.   

 

Both exhibitions open at BRIGHTSPACE on Wednesday 28 October. Exhibitions are now available to view online here 

 


MAREE CLARKE AT THE KOORIE HERITAGE TRUST

June 2015

Maree Clarke's exhibition Ritual - Connection to Country is the inaugural exhibibtion at the Koorie Heritage Trust's new premises at Federation Square.

The exhibition is on now until 13 September 2015.

We also congratulate all the finalists in this year’s Western Australian Indigenous Art Award  and especially our represented artists:

The award is announced at the exhibtion opening next Friday, 3 July at the Art Gallery of WA.

TARNANTHI FESTIVAL

The highly anticipated program for the Art Gallery of South Australia's Tarnanthi Festival of Contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art is starting to be announced. The Festival encompasses a series of exhibitions across Adelaide, public programs, community events and an Art Fair on the opening weekend of 8 October.

The Tarnanthi Festival will include new commissions by gallery artists:

Janet Fieldhouse
James Tylor
Vicki West
